What makes the Great Barrier Reef one of the seven natural wonders of the world? What are the biggest challenges facing the Reef today? Why should we care?
Discover all this and much more as we celebrate the International Year of the Reef in 2018.
From roving reef robots to rubbish recovery and recycling, take a deep dive into the science, technology and on-ground conservation actions helping to keep the Reef great. Investigate the actions on land that affect the Great Barrier Reef to uncover the surprising connections between catchments and coral. Get hands-on with the ‘Great Reef Rubbish Round-up’ and get set for Queensland’s plastic bag ban by creating your own Reef-themed reusable bag. Explore how science, and you, can help rid the Reef of pests, plastics, pollutants and other predicaments to ensure there is a Great Barrier Reef for future generations.
The Reef Think Tank will form part of Street Science at this year’s The World Science Festival Brisbane held at the South Bank Parklands. Street Science! is a free two-day program that provides the perfect setting for everyone to discover and enjoy the wonders of science.
The Reef Think Tank is presented by Great Barrier Reef Foundation, Department of Environment and Science and QUT.
