The Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN) is pleased to announce that the Government of Monaco is continuing its support to the GCRMN for 2026, specifically for the production of the Status of Coral Reefs of the World: 2025 report, in partnership with the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS), the host institution of the GCRMN.

This contribution from the Government of Monaco marks a continued level of support for the Network and will aid in the production of the next global assessment of coral reef status – an essential resource for governments, policymakers, scientists, and conservation practitioners. The report will build on previous editions, expanding the evidence base with updated trends and data from more than four decades of coral reef monitoring.

The 2025 Global Report will represent the most comprehensive synthesis of coral reef status to date and will provide the latest scientific insight to support action at global, regional, and national levels. It is an important tool for informing the implementation of global targets, including the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The Status of Coral Reefs of the World: 2025 is expected to be released in the third quarter of 2026.

The Government of Monaco’s support reflects its continued strong commitment to ocean health and coral reef conservation, building on multiple years of continued support to the Network, from the development of the Status of Coral Reefs of the World: 2020, to the most recent Pacific and Caribbean regional assessments in 2025.
